Okay, there it is: the
first part of Martial Impact -"Monkey Tale"! As you might know Martial
Impact (MI) was initially planned to feature 2 short films with very
different genres and action styles. Monkey Tale is one of them and
Microplot is the other one. We couldn't manage to complete the action
shots for he latter but we plan to do this in the future. Microplot will
then be uploaded as a separate shortfilm OR we will reconnect both stories
in one single file again.
We tried to put in very
much action this time, the endfight is pretty long. No undercranking at
all although some takes look faster than others. That's due to the
complexity of certain moves; modern stuff is much easier to perform for
instance... This time we kinda tried to go for the Shaw brothers look,
Sammo still remains as one of our greatest examples, though. The endfight
could have used a little more acrobatic stuff, but since we already had an
acrobatic-intro, we went for pure choreo mainly.
Dolly came in quite
handy for some moves, but it was a real pain to get it to the location.
The animation and
special fx occupied a great part of the post production. We incorporated
some matte paintings for the first time, especially for Microplot.
We could rely on Eduard
in terms of music and camera and he did a really good job!

The YM: post or die :P Sefa: When I first saw your Movies like Madman's Return or Madman's Ressurection,it was amazing how two "Young Masters" can fight like that...but now you're not only two boys who make movies for fun,i think that you're really professional Martial Artists.I only can say that your choreography in Martial Impact is fascinating.So nowadays I really like to watch Martial Impact more than some boring Bruce Lee film...I really like your style guys...keep on practicing.(If you want to answer my comment,you can write in German) theobec: this movie was so funny!! i really enjoyed it. the stunts and choreography were very, very good. the quality of the pictures is amazing! i dont know what to say...
- einfach nur genial!!;P Andreas Nguyen: Yeah! Hier spricht euer größter Fan^^ Ich brauch ja nicht viel über den Film zu schreiben, hab ja schon damals meinen Senf dazu abgegeben. Aber... ich konnte in letzter Zeit viele Takes aus dem Kampf analysieren und in anderen Filmen finden^^ Er ist aber trotzdem einmalig. Wie gern hätte ich bereits eurer Niveau! weiter so, ihr seit die besten! - ich freu mich schon auf mircoPLOT Camper_: This was just AMAZING! I love the choreography, I love the plot, I love acting. I'm serious guys, this looks very proffesionaly. Have you ever thought about film career? I think it's the right think for you. To kick Jet Li's ass, aint a great idea? :-D The YM: thanks everyone for posting, and feel free to add your thoughts to our other movies as well :-).

- Andy, wir kopieren unsere moves nicht. Was genau ist es denn, was du in anderen HK-Filmen wiedergefunden hast? Es kann natürlich sein, dass manche unserer moves denen aus HK-filmen ähneln. das heißt dann aber doch nicht dass wir sie kopiert haben!
- microPLOT ist übrigens nur ein Nebenprojekt für dieses Jahr ;-).

Andy: ich hab doch kein wort über kopieren gesagt^^ ich hätte ja auch damit meinen können, dass jemand was von euch geklaut hat^^ -- natürlich choreographiert ihr alles selber, man kann´s ja heutzutage wirklich nicht mehr vermeiden, dass einem manche Sachen einfallen, die´s bereits gab. einiges aus eurem Kampf hab ich neulich in Yuen Woo-Ping Filmen entdeckt, aber von Kopieren war ja wirklich nicht die Rede. Ich werd doch nicht meine Vorbilder kritisieren^^ The YM: haha, ok, dann haben wir uns wohl missverstanden :-).--Ja, das stimmt, mit der zeit gehen einem die Ideen aus, vorallem wenn man schon so viel filme gedreht hat.
- Schon oft ist es vorgekommen, dass wir eine Idee verwerfen mussten, weil wir sie schon in einer früheren produktion "verheizt" haben^^. Thanh: nice one. i watched it long time ago and i still like it. my sister laughs everytime she sees rudy die and the "screaming".

- hope micro plot is coming soon. Evan Morris: you guys are the most incredible choreographers since the "Three Brothers." I MUST speak to one or two of you, PLEASE! I am SOOOOO inspired by the masterful work you do in many areas (choreography, film editing, design, special effects, sound editing, screenplay, camera work, painting, drawing, ANIMATION!!!)

Sefa: Ich hab eigentlich mein Statement zum Film abgegeben und der war "AMAZING" aber ich wollte echt nur mal euch "The YoungMasters" loben,und auch Andy,da ich auch ein paar seiner Kampfchoreographien gesehen habe.Ich hab aber eigentlich nur noch eine Frage,habt ihr die ganzen Choreos von den HK-Action-Filmen (und wenn ja wie lange braucht ihr für eine Choreo) oder liegt das auch an eurem Training im ShaolinTempel Kaiserslautern (wenn ich mich nicht irre) ? The YM: Sefa, weiter oben solltest du antworten auf deine Frage bezgl. Choreograpfie finden. Wir haben dir aber auch ne Mail geschickt. Nav: i have no words to explain your films , i have loved kung fu movies and kung fu since childhood and make my own films aswell,since the decline in good kung fu films i have seen nothing that wouldwiden my eyes the way it used to but i must admit i have watched monkey tale and Madman's Ressurection several times now!! amazing is all i can say!! The YM: yeah sure, actually 3. One big thing, microPLOT, and one other fun project.
- All the action for the big thing is done, still need to shoot some plot stuff though (were just waiting for one dude to return from china to shoot his scenes). microPLOT would be finished by now if only Fukuyoshi didn't injure his foot and forcing us to take a break. we should be able to restart shooting the fight-scene for it by end of this month.

Ja klar! schreib mir doch einfach mal ne email. 4citi: this had excellent choreography and great camera work. keep them coming. You guys have given me a great task to make my own films just as good as yours. Andy: Coole Sache, wieviel Zeit und Geld habt ihr darin investiert,und vor allem was für eine Kamera und welche Filmsoftware ?? =) (habe Verständninss,wenn ihr das nicht verrät ^^) The YM: Andy: wir haben uns kein richtiges budget zusammengesucht vor Drehbeginn. Alles ist aus eigener Tasche finanziert, wo wir halt Geld für brauchten. :) Einen genauen Betrag haben wir jetzt nicht parat...jedenfalls wars nicht viel.
- Von der Zeit ist es auch schwer, zu sagen, wie lange wir bis jetzt dran gearbeitet haben. Ich glaube, die story wurde irgendwann im Frühling fertig und dann haben wir angefangen zu drehen.
- Aber es gibt immer große Pausen zwischen ein paar wenigen Drehtagen, weil wir noch andere Dinge zu tun haben etc.
- Software: Media Studio 7 fürn Schnitt, Adobe After Effects 7 u. Photoshop für Effekte. Dann noch diverse kleine progs für dies und jenes. :) Camper_: By the way, some time ago, I put your videos on Youtube...I did it without your permission, srry. Nevertheless, I think it made you new action movie stars. Just look at those comments! =)
